as Senior Vice President of Global Sales. With the company experiencing significant growth in 2014, the appointment was made to support SmartBear’s rapid global expansion. To support this, the company required a senior executive with public company experience to scale global operations quickly. Throughout his career, Michael McGuinness has excelled at building and scaling global sales organizations for software companies and was a logical choice for the company.
From 1987-1998, Michael served Parametric Technology Corporation in positions of increasing responsibility, ultimately running worldwide sales and field operations, responsible for over $800 million in revenue. Other senior roles included SVP, Worldwide Sales at Bromium®
, Inc., a pioneer in endpoint security using micro-virtualization. He also served as Senior Vice President Worldwide Sales and Field Operations for Sophos
, a leading enterprise security firm, growing sales from $210 million to $410 million in four years. He has been the CEO of two successful start-up software companies, NuGenesis and PanGo, both acquired by leaders in their industries. Michael has a bachelor’s degree from Fairfield University where he also served on the board of trustees from 2000 to 2012.
