Hi.We're SmartBear.

Made By Passionate People

Our users are passionate about transforming the world. We’re passionate about helping them do it.

We’re behind the software that powers thousands of companies, some of which are the most innovative in the world.

More specifically, our tools support teams through every stage of the software development lifecycle (SDLC). Whether it's writing code, finding bugs, or simply working better together, we've got them covered.

And we want more SmartBears to help them get it done. Join us.

What makes a SmartBear? Several qualities

Yes, it’s in the name, but it’s who we are. We’re looking for a well-furnished mind. That includes business and technical acumen, the ability to learn, and, most importantly, imagination.

Supporting open source communities is in our DNA, and so are the principles behind it: respectful collaboration, empathy, and the free exchange of feedback.

It took ambition to get us where we are, and we don’t forget that. Everyone here can influence the company. We move fast and we need innovative people who want to keep up.

The desire to learn new things, whether or not they’re cool. Because who’s to say something like bird watching doesn’t lead to new software? Asking questions and listening not because you have to, but because you want to.

To you, accountability doesn’t mean fear of getting in trouble, it means taking ownership. Taking action and being responsible for the success of our customers is paramount.

And SmartBears are all over the world.

What do our department heads look for?

Some companies focus solely on knowledge. We’re more concerned with how you use it.
Bryce Chicoyne
Chief Operating Officer
We believe in personal growth as well as professional, and promote within when we can. Flexibility is important, too: If you have an idea, or think a process could be fixed – just raise your hand and we're all ears. The finance function in general works extremely well together. We have smart, talented, and experienced people who feed off of each other and are able to mentor new team members.
Dan Faulkner
Chief Product Officer
At the end of the day, we have to build products that our users, teams, and corporations love. We’re the tip of the spear in that respect. Our goal is to increase everyone's understanding of the jobs our customers are trying to get done and make better products, so if you’re a data-driven, fact-based professional who asks why, great. An experienced professional who can advocate for the customer and coordinate the business at the same time.
Lou DiFruscio
Chief Revenue Officer
We look for team players, those who embrace hands-on coaching and are always striving to improve. Given many of our reps are early in their sales careers, we emphasize developing skills for both their current and future roles. While reps at SmartBear receive a good balance of structure and training, there is still plenty of room for individuality and creativity. Goal-oriented, driven individuals will find a group of like-minded sales professionals at SmartBear.
Cynthia Gumbert
Chief Marketing Officer
I think this company is so exciting to be at right now. We have an impressive set of tools that help developers and testers get great software out the door. I love being at a company that makes such an impact on the industry and stays just enough ahead of the curve to be at the leading edge. We’re growing at an amazing pace, yet still small enough that anyone can make a large difference.
Veronica Curran
Chief People and Culture Officer
I look for several things. Authenticity. Strong work ethic. Attitude. In a business where things change quickly, being proactive helps maintain a positive culture – and prepares you for situations where you need to think on your feet or put in the extra work. But if I think about it, it's more about a positive attitude than anything. You can't be a great leader without a great attitude, so that's where it starts, especially in a field as fast-paced as ours.
Christine Whichard
Chief Information Security Officer
I think SmartBear is an incredible space to work because you have a lot of runway to solve problems. That is, room to be creative in solving it, sort of like a sandbox. Let’s say you want to try and solve an issue. Just do the homework, present a solution, and I’m with you. If it doesn’t work, then let's fail fast and move on. That opportunity, from an IT perspective, is gold.

Early Career
When you’re just starting out, it’s ok to not know where you’re going. True SmartBears just want to get out there and learn. So come here. Learn about software. Learn about people. And learn how company ideas can spring from anywhere, including you.
You’ve got more to learn, but a lot of experience to give. Maybe you haven’t brushed past the software world before. That’s ok. That’s where the learning part comes in.
You’ve been around the block. You know when to fill emotional tanks, and when to keep the team’s eye on the prize. With our company growing at leaps and bounds, we need experienced eyes to help us look before we leap. That’s where you come in.

Diversity, Equity, And Inclusion

These aren’t just words to us: They’re at the core of our principles at SmartBear.

Openness – that is, respectful collaboration, empathy, and the free exchange of feedback – is the philosophy that drives our support for open source communities, and it extends to every SmartBear employee and customer. They’re welcome as they are, with their contributions equally valued regardless of race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender identity, disability, or status.

When we operate from a foundation of equal opportunity, we not only hold ourselves accountable, we’re better able to transform big ideas into sustainable realities. And that lets us create lasting change in our business and communities.

Because at the end of the day, we’re here to make the world a more quality place – for everyone.
