Get Real-Time Visibility into Your Apps with Performance Notifications & Alerts
Understanding the overall performance and speed of your app is just as important as avoiding crashes and bugs. SmartBear Insight Hub now includes performance targets to set and track specific benchmarks for your application’s performance metrics. This update allows you to define what “good performance” means for your app, whether it’s fast screen loads, efficient network requests, or quick app startups.
With new performance monitors, you can configure alerts and notifications when your application performance exceeds or drops below specified thresholds.
What do performance monitors and alerts look like in Insight Hub?
Users can now create ongoing monitors that will trigger alerts via their chosen integration (email, Slack, etc.) when application performance drops below a threshold that you define. Currently, users can create performance monitors for app starts, screen loads, and network request spans.
When you navigate to the “Performance” tab, you can view and create new performance monitors on the left-hand sidebar.
Once you create a new performance monitor, you’ll be able to input all your preferences, including performance percentile, threshold definitions, release stage, and frequency of alerting. You can also configure which exact span groups the monitor should work on – this can be further expanded by choosing specific “Any Except/Only where” endpoints within these span groups. You can then see an overview of each performance monitor you have created and see their status at a glance.
There are three statuses that can be assigned – “Good” (no active alerts), “Alerting” (responding to a Warning or Critical status), or “Disabled” (cutting noise when there is a known issue).
Clicking into a specific monitor allows you to see all of the alerts that have been triggered for the lifetime of the monitor, regardless of the metrics you’re tracking or their status. You can see every rule in the configuration and the third-party integrations that are running and communicating your alerts. Alerts will show if they were triggered due to Warning or Critical thresholds.
Performance alerts can be sent to all of your favorite third-party integrations already set up in Insight Hub, including team notifications, incident management tools, and data forwarding services. More features and functionalities are coming soon, including performance monitors tied to set performance targets.
