AQtime Pro supports two license types: Node-Locked and Floating User. These license types do not differ in supported applications and other functionality. They are only different in the way you use AQtime Pro --
- The Node-Locked license is activated on only one computer which means that you can only run AQtime Pro on a single computer. You can only run one instance of AQtime Pro on this computer at a time.
- The Floating User license means that you activate AQtime Pro on one computer and then run AQtime Pro on multiple workstations in your network. The number of copies that can work concurrently is determined by the license key.
To activate licenses and control their usage, AQtime Pro employs a License Manager. For a Node-Locked license, the License Manager is installed along with AQtime Pro, while the Floating User license, a License Manager can be installed along with AQtime Pro or as a standalone utility on another computer like a server.
An important factor is that Node-Locked licenses cannot be activated on virtual machines. For Floating User licenses this means that you can run AQtime Pro on virtual machines, but you cannot use virtual machines for hosting the license manager. If you need to run AQtime Pro on virtual machines, you have to use the Floating User license.
The following table summarizes the differences between the license types:
