Happy New B’ak’tun!
Test and Monitor | Posted December 22, 2012

So, apparently the Mayans were wrong, and the world didn’t end yesterday. Either that, or we were just reading too much into things. In all honesty, the calendar didn’t end – it just rolled over to a new 394-year period, or b’ak’tun. We were previously living in the 13th b’ak’tun, which now has rolled over the 14th. Also, as a side-note, they didn’t account for leap years, so some people claim the apocalypse really happened over seven months ago.

happy new b'ak'tun So instead of grouching over the fact that we’re all still here, we’d like to wish you all a happy new b’ak’tun! Thank you for a great 13th b’ak’tun, which was a period which saw both the release of a two new API testing tools, SoapUI and LoadUI, and an avalanche-like growth of said tools. Just check out the download numbers for SoapUI and LoadUI.

We really couldn’t have done it without you guys. We know that statement is thrown around a lot, but we really mean it. You, our users, have helped us in letting us know when the tools aren’t working properly, by reporting bugs to us. You’ve shared what features you would like to see improved or added to future releases. But, most heartwarming of all, have just been lovable people who gladly start or join great discussions with us and each other through Twitter, our webinars, and other channels. To see SoapUI and LoadUI users help each other out by answering questionsblogging, creating videos and even writing books is an astounding sight.

So what do we have in store for the 14th b’ak’tun?

The short answer is: a lot! Fort starters we are currently working on porting LoadUI from its current platform, JavaFX 1, to JaxaFX 2. This will make the tool perform up two twice as fast and become a lot more stable.

For SoapUI we are currently working on trying to fix some bugs that have slipped through over the last few months, but we’re also planning on improving the .NET support and the REST-testing support. The .NET support in SoapUI is limited today, allowing only the BasicHTTP Binding. REST-testing is also there today as well, but it's more catered towards "old school REST-testing". We want to make it new school.

We also want to make sure we continue working on resources, like articles and videos, which allow both new and old users of the tools to easily understand how to get going with the testing, and use specific features.

Thank you all for a great 13th b’ak’tun, and here’s to the 14th b’ak’tun becoming even better!

We love you all!
