.NET Framework 3 Support

  November 15, 2006

About a week ago Microsoft announced the release of .NET Framework 3. The new version introduces lots of new technologies: Windows Presentation Foundation (WPF), Windows Communication Foundation (WCF), Windows Workflow Foundation (WWF), Windows CardSpace (WCS) and more. It also supports existing .NET components and libraries including WinForms, ASP.NET and ADO.NET.

We have received multiple questions about when our products will support the new .NET Framework.

The answer to this question is actually quite simple: AutomatedQA products already support the .NET framework 3. The fact is that the new version 3 includes the Common Language Runtime (CLR) version 2. This version is already supported by AutomatedQA products, so you can use them to test your .NET Framework 3 applications and we carried out a number of tests to confirm this. So, you can use AQtime to trace the performance and memory and resource usage of your .NET Framework 3 applications. You can also test your .NET Framework 3 applications with TestComplete - the testing engine will be able to access the application's internal objects, methods and properties.

In addition, the upcoming TestComplete version 5 will include special support for WPF (XAML) components. TestComplete 5 is in beta testing now. You can test the new functionality by applying for the beta test.
