With the increased adoption of continuous integration and delivery, automated tests are becoming essential. Behaviour-driven development (BDD) is a modern approach to developing software that grew out of Agile and test-driven development. Most organisations can benefit from test management and BDD. By combining BDD and test management practices, teams will experience a smoother SDLC, improved transparency, clearer workflows, and more effective collaboration between teams. The expected outcomes for the organization include reduced costs, improved staff morale, and higher customer satisfaction. The three core BDD practices (discovery, formulation, and automation) enable teams to reach a shared understanding of the software to be developed. During this process, all teams align using a common business language known as Gherkin which provides a simple ‘Given-When-Then’ format to define expected user behavior and functionality for technical and non-technical teams. In this 60-minute session, SmartBear experts will provide an overview of what is BDD, and why it’s gaining popularity with Agile teams around the world. They will also demonstrate how you can easily create test cases in Jira using Gherkin syntax with two leading test management tools from SmartBear:
