What SmartBear’s AWS AI Software Competency means for software teams

AI is changing how software gets built. That raises the bar for every team responsible for keeping it working. SmartBear has been developing AI capabilities across the entire quality lifecycle that help teams deliver software they trust will work at AI speed and scale.

Today, SmartBear announced it has achieved AWS AI Software Competency status in the Agentic AI category through the AWS Partner program. The designation recognizes that SmartBear has demonstrated technical proficiency and proven customer success delivering AI-powered software quality solutions built on AWS infrastructure.

For the teams building and shipping software on AWS, it’s a signal that SmartBear’s AI capabilities are validated, production-ready, and purpose-built for the way modern development actually works.

What the AWS AI Software Competency means

AWS AI Software Competency Partners have demonstrated technical proficiency and proven customer success in helping organizations deploy production-ready AI systems on AWS. The designation recognizes partners in the Agentic AI category that offer solutions and services enabling the safe and secure deployment of production-grade, agentic AI systems on AWS.

AWS AI Software Competency Partners represent rigorous technical validation by AWS across security, reliability, and operational excellence. For customers, that means a trusted, verified path to AI solutions that are ready for production.

QMetry powered by Amazon Bedrock: AI-driven test intelligence

The AWS AI Software Competency recognizes SmartBear QMetry powered by Amazon Bedrock for demonstrating deep technical expertise, proven customer success, and significant business growth on AWS. QMetry delivers AI-driven natural language test intelligence, enabling QA teams to:

  • Ask plain-language questions about test data – like “Which modules have the highest defect density?” – and get instant answers
  • Generate SQL-backed reports in real time, without writing a single query
  • Get real-time release readiness assessments, coverage analysis, and defect trend visibility – all in one place

That last point matters. Getting a clear picture of release readiness has historically required pulling data from multiple tools, writing custom queries, and waiting for someone with the right technical skills to assemble the report. QMetry as the system of record for testing – running on Amazon Bedrock’s fully managed foundation model service – changes that workflow entirely.

What’s covered?

The AWS AI Software Competency status extends across SmartBear’s portfolio on AWS Marketplace, meaning every product below – not just QMetry – carries the same AWS-validated standard for security, reliability, and AI implementation:

Together, these products cover key stages of the software development lifecycle – from testing and API governance to real-world observability – all within AWS infrastructure.

Built on a strategic collaboration agreement with AWS

The AWS AI Software Competency builds on SmartBear’s existing AWS DevOps ISV Competency and its Strategic Collaboration Agreement with AWS, which deepened go-to-market alignment and product integration across the software development lifecycle for joint customers.

That collaboration is reflected in how SmartBear’s products integrate with AWS services today – QMetry’s natural language test intelligence runs on Amazon Bedrock, Swagger connects to Amazon API Gateway for AI-ready API governance and management, and Reflect’s continuous quality gates run natively in AWS CodePipeline. These are purpose-built integrations, embedding application integrity directly into the cloud-native pipelines teams are already using.

Application integrity at AI speed and scale

The AWS AI Software Competency validates something SmartBear has been building toward: the ability to help customers deliver application integrity – continuous, measurable assurance that software works as intended – at the speed and scale AI-disrupted development demands.

Software teams are shipping faster, with more AI-generated code and across more complex architectures. That combination creates new categories of risk. Having validated, production-ready AI capabilities on the infrastructure teams already trust is how quality keeps pace.
