Collaborator 10.1 includes Various Improvements to GitHub and RTC Integrations as well as Group Administration, Savings Report, Admin UI and Performance
SOMERVILLE, Mass. — October 11, 2016 —
SmartBear Software, the leader in software quality tools for teams, released an update to Collaborator, the leading peer code and document review tool that helps development, testing and management teams work together to produce high quality code, applications and services. Among various improvements, Collaborator 10.1 adds an integration with Atlassian’s Bitbucket and enhances its GitHub integration for teams that need more than a basic conversation model for their review workflow.
“SmartBear continues to focus on integrating with the leading repository management solutions for teams that need more than the basic ‘this looks good’ code review process,” said Justin Collier, Product Owner, Collaborator at SmartBear. “With Collaborator 10.1, we’ve added Bitbucket integration, enhanced the GitHub integration and made various improvements to Group Administration, Savings Report, Admin UI, the integration with IBM Rational Team Concert and performance, including as much as 98 percent improvement when loading conversations within a review.”
With support for Atlassian’s Bitbucket SaaS offering, Collaborator code reviews are now automatically created when a pull request is initiated in Bitbucket. The integration is driven through a WebHook and easily allows Collaborator to be the peer review tool for teams using Bitbucket as their repository management solution. Like the GitHub integration, pull requests can be automatically merged when the review completes and feature branches deleted if desired. In addition, check-ins can be gated to ensure that reviews are actually taking place.
With a new level of Group Administration, group admins can now be granted granular access to modify individual sections of the admin area. Templates can be assigned to groups, which ensure that only certain templates can be selected for use within a review. Additionally, a default template can be configured for any given group. Templates provide organizations with the flexibility needed to support multiple teams, which may require different peer review workflows.
Enhanced savings reports now allow managers to determine the financial benefits realized by performing peer code and document reviews, calculating costs based on time savings as well as defect related savings.
