New Plug-In Allows SmartBear Ready API Users to Import APIs from 3scale API Management Platform
Beverly, MA — December 02, 2014 —
SmartBear Software, the choice of more than two million software professionals for building and delivering the world’s best applications, released a new plug-in for Ready API that allows users to import APIs from developer portals managed by 3scale.
3scale is leading the way for the API economy with their full-featured all-in-one API management solution that provides API Management, administration, traffic reports and developer portals. Trusted by more than 425 live APIs, 3scale helps organizations of any size to open, manage and use APIs, unlocking the huge potential of data. Their API management platform is built to be an all-in-one solution, allowing API providers to easily package, distribute, manage and monetize APIs.
In addition to their commitment to API providers, 3scale’s mission is to make it easy for API consumers to use and understand the APIs managed on their platform. SmartBear, makers of SoapUI and Ready API, shares the same goal by providing developers and testers common tooling to test mock services and APIs. The collaboration between SmartBear and 3scale provides even more capabilities for API consumers, allowing them to import APIs so they can explore them and easily create tests for them. By using the common denominator of Swagger definitions, both 3scale and SmartBear make it simple to understand and explore an API’s capabilities.
“Despite the fact that APIs are becoming pervasive, there are still areas in the API lifecycle that are not well supported by tools, making some actions cumbersome,” said Manfred Bortenschlager, API Market Development Director at 3scale. “Our collaboration with SmartBear delivers a free 3scale plug-in for Ready API, making it very easy for our customers to import, test and refine their APIs.”
Ready API’s plug-in architecture makes extending the tool fast and easy. The plug-in framework uses annotation-based extension points instead of XML configuration files and provides automatic installation of any third-party dependencies. Ready API offers a plug-in browser so Ready API users are able to find and install plug-ins quickly and easily. The new Import From 3scale plug-in was released on November 25, 2014 and is available for all SoapUI Pro and ServiceV Pro users.
“Enabling developers and testers to easily explore, virtualize, test and monitor APIs is core to our vision for the Ready API Platform,” said Ole Lensmar, CTO of SmartBear. “We are excited to launch this plug-in with 3scale, as it both aligns with this mission and shows how easy it is to extend the reach of the Ready API tools to other key players in the API economy.”
Recently released to market, Ready API is an end-to-end API readiness platform with tools for testing and virtualizing your APIs. Ready API has various application modules available including SoapUI Pro, the next generation of SoapUI for testing all Web services, including REST and SOAP APIs as well as the ServiceV Pro module for creating, managing and sharing virtualized assets.
