Record 2014 Growth Fueled Need for Aggressive Hiring and More Space at New Assembly Row Campus in Somerville, Massachusetts
Somerville, MA — February 05, 2015 —
, the choice of more than two million software professionals for building and delivering the world’s best applications, has moved into its new Assembly Row corporate campus
in Somerville, Massachusetts. The new headquarters contains 50 percent more space than the prior office in Beverly, and with a location more central to Boston’s technology market, will help facilitate the required hiring to support the company’s aggressive growth.
“It's great to welcome SmartBear as the newest member of Somerville's community and the first high-tech tenant in the best brand-new neighborhood on the east coast,” said Somerville Mayor Joseph A. Curtatone
. “Somerville's culture of innovation and originality is a perfect fit for a company like SmartBear, and our community's vision and work has created the kind of walkable, bikeable, mixed-use neighborhood near public transit that attracts 21st century companies like SmartBear. They want to locate in the vibrant urban core, where they can meet and collaborate with like-minded entrepreneurs, bringing with them high-quality jobs, and we want those high-quality jobs and the commercial taxes the company will contribute. So this is a win for everyone."
2014 was a year of record revenues and downloads for SmartBear. Driven by the need for software quality tools for a highly connected world, the company added a record number of customers, won multiple awards, expanded product lines and opened new development and sales offices worldwide. To support this growth, the company has been hiring across sales, marketing, product/project management, accounting, software development and human resources resulting in a need for a larger Boston office.
Assembly Row is a growing and energetic environment with every amenity conveniently available for professionals. The area was designed to complement the legacy of Boston and Cambridge with a mix of shops, restaurants, entertainment, residences, parking and easy access to downtown Boston via a new Orange Line MBTA station. Located on the fourth floor of 450 Artisan Way, the new space overlooks the Mystic River, was designed to support local meet ups and is just a five minute walk to the Assembly T station.
“Part of my job is to not only market our great products to potential customers, but also market the company to potential employees,” said Bryan Semple
, CMO at SmartBear. “The new Assembly Row campus has what most tech workers are looking for – a convenient location accessible by public transit, parking, a downtown location and a host of amenities nearby. Add to that an open office plan with high ceilings, great views of the Mystic River and an open and collaborative work environment and SmartBear is poised to continue to attract the area’s best tech talent.”
