Unprecedented ‘Invite a Colleague’ Feature Supports Further Collaboration to Help in Generating Higher Quality Software
Beverly, Mass. — December 11, 2013 — SmartBear Software
, leading provider of quality and performance management solutions used by more than one million software development and operations professionals worldwide, has added even more functionality to Collaborator
, the most full-featured code and peer review tool available. Collaborator now allows users to quickly and easily add other development team members to a review session. Eliminating the formal participant process, users simply type an email address into the conversation panel and an email invitation is sent to that person to enter the review. Extended team members easily and collaboratively provide feedback, with the author tracking and taking action against each comment and defect.
“Collaborator is a very feature and security rich collaboration tool,” says Mark Hammer
, Senior Product Director at SmartBear. “Collaborator’s ‘Invite a Colleague’ feature makes it extremely simple to invite others to reviews and the author doesn’t have to specify each person that will be involved in a review before kicking it off. The real advantage of quickly and easily including extended team members in the review process, however, is working collaboratively to generate higher quality software before it reaches the customer.”
Collaborator is the only code review tool that enables the review of project deliverables like user stories, test plans and user documentation – in addition to code review. In August, SmartBear announced
that Collaborator allows testers and quality assurance teams to peer review test plans and all artifacts in Microsoft Excel documents.
In addition to this new feature, the new version of Collaborator includes several enhancements to its integration with IBM’s IBM Rational Team Concert
(RTC). These include adding reviewers as work item assignments and better handling of file renaming. Collaborator is also integrated into IBM ClearCase
with support for directories. Collaborator has IBM's Ready for Rational Software validation for Team Concert, ClearCase as well as Synergy
