I can see the software testing field becoming purely a DevOps shop. The line between testers and developers will become increasingly blurry.

This was an answer to one of our favorite questions in our 2018 State of Testing survey, “What do you think the software testing industry will look like in two years?” From being overrun with robots and artificial intelligence, to shifting left or not progressing at all, the stark differences in responses we received from thousands of QA professionals globally highlights the unpredictable nature of the field.
With our flagship survey last year, we set out to gather insights into the current state of testing practices and development methodologies, and set industry benchmarks we could measure against for years to come. With our second annual release, we aimed to uncover key trends and answer questions such as, “How fast is automated testing growing,” or, “Are release cycles actually getting shorter?”
With 2,676 responses from Developers, QA / Automation Engineers, Business Analysts, and Manual Testers in over 15 different industries, we were able to uncover valuable insights into how software testing is transforming.
