Earlier this year, SmartBear Software released a new industry report looking at the growth, challenges, and opportunities for the API industry in 2016.
The State of API 2016 Report, included input from over 2,300 software developers, testers, IT/operations professionals and business leaders representing more than 50 industries and 104 countries.
Since the report launched, we’ve been digging into the findings to share key insights for API providers and organizations that depend on APIs to power their applications.
Some of the key takeaways from the report include:
- 1 in 5 API providers began providing within the last two years
- Mobile, IoT, and enterprise integrations will be key drivers of future growth
- Loss of customers and brand reputation are viewed as the biggest risks of poor API quality
- Less than 10% of API issues are resolved within 24 hours; 55% are resolved within a week
