Test and Monitor | Posted October 16, 2018

The latest SmartBear Connect Speaker Spotlight is here! In this edition we spoke to Stephanie Beach of Certica Solutions, who will be speaking about “Certica’s Use of Zephyr in the Quality Assistance Paradigm.”

At SmartBear Connect, Steph is excited to share how her team has implemented Zephyr to achieve their different goals. She’s also looking forward to speaking with the SmartBear team and fellow attendees. Find out more about Steph and her session below!

Without repeating your bio, what would you like attendees to know about you?

I’m a Chief Quality Architect and I’ve been in the business for 38 years. I started out as a hardware engineer, working primarily in startup companies. Then I switched over to software engineering customer service, and then into quality assurance. I’ve been with Certica Solutions now for almost 12 years. I have a passion for quality, and I’ve been a supporter of SmartBear for about 10 years.

What’s something that attendees would be surprised to learn about you?

I’m a pretty cool magician. After the conference I’ll do some magic!

How are you using Zephyr? How does it fit into your workflow?

We use a quality assistance model that comes from Atlassian. This model means that we don’t have any quality assurance people. All of our Developers are building quality through unit and integration tests, and then Developers will run other Developers’ code. Zephyr is very important to us because inside the Jira model, it clearly shows you what tests are being done, and it shows you what cycles the tests are being executed in, so that we can see test execution, resource management, and test coverage.

What problems are Zephyr solving for you?

The two main problems it’s solving are resources and code coverage.

How do you feel about SmartBear acquiring Zephyr?

You cannot believe how excited I am! I’ve used TestComplete, SoapUI, and QAComplete in the past. And from experience I know that you guys are responsive, you follow up on things, and even if you’re not going to do what I request, you let me know that you’ve considered it. You guys are the best.

What is something that you’re excited to share with the community during your session?

The Zephyr product and how we’re using it. I want the community to see the different strategies we have on test cycle strategies, resource allocation, and test coverage. These are really important aspects that you can get out of Zephyr.

Who do you think would benefit most from attending your talk?

QA testers, QA architects, Developers, and QA managers, so that they can see the benefits of having their team use Zephyr.

What are you most looking forward to at SmartBear Connect?

Getting back into communication with the SmartBear team! I am a QA engineer and architect, and I know when things aren’t working the way they should be, that you respect my comments. I feel like I’m empowered when I work with SmartBear.
