SmartBear Builds Bikes for a Great Cause

  Januar 13, 2017

As their first philanthropic event of the year, SmartBear joined forces with the Boys & Girls Club of Medford & Somerville to build 18 bikes for children living in the area.

On Tuesday night, in a bout of friendly competition, 115 employees broke into teams to see who could build the bikes the fastest. (All bikes were tuned by mechanics before being gifted).

“We’re aiming to increase the amount of philanthropic events we do in 2017 with a larger company-wide focus,” said SmartBear Office Manager Alyssa Breedlove.

On Wednesday, the children surprised SmartBear employees and came to the office to receive the bikes and meet the individuals who made them.

“I felt like this was one of the best team building sessions we’ve done, and it definitely made an impact and will stick with me for a while,” said Manager of Business Operations Anu Krishnakumar. “It also made me realize how fortunate I was growing up.”

With eight offices around the world, SmartBear is encouraging philanthropy in every location. In the past year, the Somerville team has participated in numerous local charitable events including volunteering with Cradles to Crayons and Rosie’s Place, and participating in food and clothing drives for Robert F. Kennedy Children’s Actions Corps, and much more.
