AlertSite is now integrated with AppDynamics Application Intelligence Platform. Just like the vintage advertising for Reese's peanut butter cups, AlertSite and AppDynamics are "Two great tastes that taste great together."
Working together, development and operations teams can quickly detect ‘customer experience’ degradations and errors, and trace the root cause of these problems to the exact segment of the application’s code.
AlertSite is a leading synthetic monitoring platform for monitoring APIs, WebSites ,and Mobile applications. AlertSite provides proactive monitoring of APIs, Web and SaaS applications and mobile apps by running monitors from SmartBear’s global network of nodes or at a customer deployed private node. These monitors are performance tests depicting typical customer interactions and check for availability, functional correctness and responsiveness. These tests can also be run for SLA monitoring and benchmarking. As these tests are run continuously, AlertSite allows IT operations teams to detect degradations and errors proactively before end users encounter a problem.
Collect Data Related to the Code Path of A Transaction
The AppDynamics Application Intelligence Platform collects data related to the code path of a transaction, from the application server all the way to the back end databases. Together you get an always on solution that detects performance and availability issues, alerts you to them and shows you, at the code level, where the problem is. This means you can fix performance problems before end users even see them.
In order to correlate errors and degradations with application back end tiers and rapidly troubleshoot code level issues, SmartBear has integrated AppDynamics Application Intelligence Platform into AlertSite UXM. The AppDynamics Application Intelligence Platform collects data related to the code path a transaction takes from the application server all the way to the back end databases. Customers of both products are now able to drill down from an AlertSite transaction, directly into the related AppDynamics trace at the code level.
Below is a screenshot of response times from the AlertSite UXM interface, followed by a screenshot of the trace into the AppDynamics interface.
The trace is seamless, just click through.
“In order to identify the root cause of performance issues that are in the application code, it is necessary to have visibility into the entire structure of the application and all the components that make up the back end tiers, since the root cause of an issue could be anywhere,” said Anand Sundaram Vice President of Products, AlertSite UXM. “This can be complicated and costly in terms of money, time, resources and lost business. Many of the tools used provide good information but only shed light into a piece of the larger puzzle. The integration of AppDynamics with AlertSite UXM is the perfect marriage, allowing customers to easily detect and correlate issues in the application code, thereby reducing MTTR.”
