Performance of Online Retailers [Relatively] Strong on Cyber Monday

Earlier today, CNN reported a 39 percent jump in Web traffic when compared to the same time last Cyber Monday. So far, the home pages of most online retailers are holding up surprisingly well.

With the exception of Kohl's this afternoon, and TigerDirect earlier this morning, most major online retailers are exhibiting close to normal response times. At the higher end is RadioShack, with response times over 10 seconds throughout the morning.

Also, during the noon to 1 p.m. EST hour, there was a slight lift in response times. This is almost surely due to increased traffic and shopping activity during that time.

In terms of availability, the sites we're monitoring showed 100 percent availability between 6 a.m. and 2 p.m. EST. BestBuy and Kohl's are the only exceptions. BestBuy experienced a time out during the 10 a.m. hour; and during the noontime hour, Kohl's displayed a 'sorry the elves are busy page.'

We'll continue to monitor and report on the performance of these sites throughout the day and holiday season.
