Upgrading from v5.0 to v6.0

In June 2010, SmartBear released the beta of version 6.0 of CodeCollaborator.

This page provides considerations for upgrading your CodeCollaborator server to v6.0.

Incompatibility with Older Clients

If the CodeCollaborator server is upgraded to v6.0, CodeCollaborator users must also upgrade their CodeCollaborator client applications to v5.0 or later. The Minimum Client Build is 5000. v4.0 (and older) CodeCollaborator client applications cannot be used to attach to a v6.0 server.

Server/Database Upgrade Procedure

Once you upgrade to v6.0, you cannot downgrade to v5.0. Neither the database nor the installation directory supports installing a pre-v6.0 version on top of a post-v6.0 version.

This means: Back up everything before you perform the upgrade. This is good advice any time you upgrade any software, but it is especially important with v6.0 because you cannot "undo."

Upgrading an existing v5.0 server and database to v6.0 works just like any other upgrade. Download and execute the v6.0 server installer from http://downloads.codecollab.com and follow the on-screen instructions. All your previous settings will be preserved.
