Reviewing & Managing Virtual Projects

Collaborator and Virtualization

Collaborator is a lightweight peer code review tool that promotes team communication and helps your team improve software quality.

Collaborator is cross-platform Java client-server application with several components. All components are compatible with virtualization software from vendors like VMware®, Microsoft®, Oracle® and Citrix®.

Virtual machines can be used in several helpful ways with Collaborator:

  • The Collaborator server can be installed on virtual servers, like VMware Server, to consolidate resources and reduce costs.
  • The Collaborator server can be installed and used on private cloud servers.
  • The Collaborator server can be installed on a hosted cloud server, however most users prefer to have their code review server hosted locally.

Virtual machines can also be used with the Collaborator client components:

  • Pre-install and configure Collaborator components on virtual workstations to save setup time for new users.

Collaborator is completely compatible with virtualization software and can be installed on virtual machines for new user provisioning, system backups and training labs.

ALMComplete and Virtualization

ALMComplete is a full featured application lifecycle management tool for software development and test management including requirements, test cases, defect tracking, tasks, and support tickets.

ALMComplete helps software development teams manage and trace requirements, project deliverables, test cases, defects, and a lot more. It is not dependent on the type of software development methodology you choose.

ALMComplete manages test cases and reports on automated test runs. ALMComplete can schedule TestComplete tests to run on physical or virtual machines.

Virtualization can be used in several helpful ways with ALMComplete:

  • The ALMComplete server can be installed on virtual servers, like VMware, to consolidate resources and reduce costs.
  • The ALMComplete server can be installed and used on a private cloud server.
  • The ALMComplete server can be installed on a hosted cloud server. However, it is simpler to run the ALMComplete server locally as it interacts with other services, like version control and automated testing, that are typically on a local server.

ALMComplete is a Web application, so clients interact via any browser with network access to the server. It integrates well with virtualized environments.
