Document Review

  • Review Microsoft Office documents CodeCollaborator only.
    • View, comment, and add defects on multi-page documents.
    • Add comments in two-dimensional space, right on the document.

  • Specify your own "location" labels for document comments CodeCollaborator only.
     
New and Improved IDE Support

  • Using the new Add-In for Visual Studio, you can easily create or add files to a review from the Visual Studio Solution Explorer.
  • A significant enhancement to the Eclipse plug-in provides complete review participation from within any Eclipse-based IDE. View, comment, and add defects without ever leaving Eclipse.
     
User Groups
Group administration (add/remove members, etc.) can be delegated to one or more group administrators.

Web GUI Enhancements

  • The file diff viewer can now show differences between the latest version of a file and the latest accepted version of that file.
  • Zoom in and out on documents and image files while doing a comparison.
  • Redact a Comment: If you type in a comment and then decide: "Doh, that's not really what I meant," now you can make it clear to the other participants that they don't need to read it.
  • Defects are displayed differently than comments.

Version Control System Integration

  • ClearCase: Add specific file versions to a review from the GUI client.
  • Git.
    • Add a Git diff to a review from within the GUI client.
    • Add local file changes directly from the GUI or command line client.
  • Mercurial.
    • Add local file changes directly from the GUI or command line client.

    • Easily add pending or completed tasks from a Rational Synergy repository to a code review.

    • Use the CodeCollaborator Eclipse plug-in to add a change set to a review.
    • Use the CodeCollaborator RTC server plug-in to create a review automatically from within Rational Team Concert.
       
Reporting

  • New fields in the customizable Review reports: Defects per Hour, Number of Participants, and Average Participant Time.
  • New filter in the customizable Review reports: Review Completion Date.
  • New filters in the customizable Defect reports: Review Creation Date and Review Completion Date.
  • Filter report results by selected user Group, with or without immediate descendant groups or all descendant groups. CodeCollaborator only.
  • User-oriented reports.
    • Similar to existing customizable reports for reviews, user custom reports show you metrics on a per-user basis, including the ability to display total user activity time.
    • User Detail Report that displays detailed information for a single user.

Administration/Customization

  • Customize the word for "Defect" CodeCollaborator only If your organization prefers "Item" or "Finding" or whatever, you can configure CodeCollaborator accordingly.
  • Here at SmartBear, we use the word "Booger."
  • Per-participant Custom Fields CodeCollaborator only.
    • Collect custom data from each participant in a review.
    • Can be used to gather survey data or time spent on a review outside of CodeCollaborator.
  • Disable the "commit" action items that are displayed after completion of a pre-commit review.
