Pair to Develop ‘Smarketing’ Mindset for Software Tools Leader

SmartBear Software today introduced two new members of its executive leadership team who are charged with driving the company’s sales and marketing efforts to new levels of integrated success. Larry DiLoreto is SmartBear’s new EVP and chief revenue officer and Jeanne Hopkins is the new EVP and chief marketing officer. Both report to Joe Krivickas, SmartBear chief executive officer.

“SmartBear, our rapidly growing base of worldwide customers and our phenomenal partners all will benefit from the simultaneous arrival of such innovative and successful sales and marketing leaders,” said Krivickas. “Larry and Jeanne, and their teams, are working together to build on the foundation of success SmartBear has established in the quality lifecycle market. They will help us take advantage of a unique opportunity to connect our products, employees and brands with the 1 million users who already realize the benefits of using SmartBear solutions and they will develop the powerful capabilities of a true sales and marketing—‘smarketing’—mindset by working together to create and fulfill demand for SmartBear products. Their efforts will enable us to exceed our objectives and enhance our leadership position in the market by connecting with the remaining 17 million developers and ‘devops’ professionals in the world and turn them into SmartBear customers.”

DiLoreto has 20 years’ experience selling software tools to developers and operations professionals globally and proven expertise in driving profitable business expansion, improving margins and developing global partnerships. He joins SmartBear from Qvidian, the market leader in cloud computing sales effectiveness applications, where he was global vice president of sales and transformed Qvidian’s two sales organizations into one by segmenting the business, redefining roles and responsibilities and aligning incentive plans to drive profitable SaaS growth.

Prior to Qvidian, he worked for Progress Software, a leading developer of business application software, in several executive sales positions. These included vice president of Americas and Asia Pacific sales and field operations, and vice president of Asia Pacific and Japan sales and field operations, during which he spent five years, based in Australia.

“I’m pleased to join SmartBear at such a pivotal time in the company’s ascension,” said DiLoreto. “Our complete integrated quality lifecycle solution for developers, QA engineers and operations teams is unmatched in the industry. We have the exciting challenge of bringing SmartBear’s unique capabilities to a broader worldwide market that will benefit greatly from ensuring software success.”

Hopkins comes to SmartBear from HubSpot, a marketing software leader and pioneer in inbound marketing, where she was vice president of marketing. Her marketing leadership helped HubSpot become the second-fastest growing software company in the Inc. 500 by generating 45,000 new leads each month. Hopkins previously was CMO of MEC Labs, owner of MarketingSherpa, MarketingExperiments, and InTouch, and senior director, marketing programs and communications, for Symmetricon, a leader in precision time and frequency technologies.

Hopkins, a firm believer in the top-of-the-funnel lead-generation capabilities of inbound marketing, is coauthor of the book Go Mobile, a step-by-step introductory look at starting mobile marketing efforts that has been the #1 best-selling mobile marketing book on Amazon.com. She is also one of the top 10 Sales Lead Management professionals for 2011.

“It’s thrilling to join a company as well positioned as SmartBear because it provides a tremendous opportunity to apply cutting-edge inbound marketing techniques to drive demand for our broad portfolio of products that serve the fast-growing software development and deployment market,” said Hopkins. “Our lead-generation programs will leverage the blogosphere, the social mediasphere and search engines to introduce SmartBear to more potential customers in the natural course of the way they shop and learn, and then we will nurture those leads and turn prospects into customers.”
